Episode 111 – Bitch I’m Frank Mason 2.0 (with RedHead) Plus Big 12 Tourney Talk

Posted on: March 9th, 2017 by jayhawktalk No Comments

The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here — RedHead’s premiere of “Bitch I’m Frank Mason 2.0.”

You know him from his original hit with KU fans, “Bitch I’m Frank Mason.” Well he’s back — and while he’s honoring the same KU phenom, it feels different this time around now that Frank has become a legitimate KU Hall of Famer and College Basketball’s National Player of the Year.

None of this surprises RedHead, though. He always knew Frank would get there if he kept grinding.

On the sequel, RedHead has a new sound — an evolved style as he puts it — but scores with the same killer hook that endeared him to many a Jayhawk, “Bitch, I’m Frank Mason.” He graciously joins the podcast to talk about the two tracks, his background, love for hoops, and why he’s a KU fan.

On the rest of the podcast, we also preview the Big 12 Tournament, talk about Kevin’s new Jayhawk, and get fired the eff up about March Madness finally being here.

Once in a rare while an artist will create a true masterpiece.

You revere it. You glorify it. And how could you not — it’s perfection, after all. Then you turn to melancholy as you realize that this wonderful artist has literally painted himself into a corner. How could the artist ever create another piece of art that could rival (to say nothing of better) this perfection?

And you wonder to yourself, will the artist ever try to chase a more perfect perfection?

Lin Manuel Miranda created Tony Award winning “In the Heights” and chased a more perfect perfection in “Hamilton.” James Cameron hit pay dirt with Terminator only to perfect it with Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The Warriors crushed the Cavs in 2015 in dramatic fashion only to perfect its own theatrical tragedy in 2016 losing a 3-1 lead.

It is a rare day when an artist perfects perfection.

As William J.H. Boetcker once said, “Never mind what others do; do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success.”

And as Redhead once said, “Ballin like a dog every day my life is a vacation I can’t do this shit alone bitch KUCMB the nation!”

You know him for his fire track — a near perfect “Bitch I’m Frank Mason.”

He’s back. And from what we can tell, he’s perfected perfection in “Bitch I’m Frank Mason 2.0.” Think of the first as the beta Redhead. He’s evolved. And now the full Redhead is on display in the sequel.

This is not unlike Frank himself. A young, up-and-comer, hungry for success and driven to seek perfection. Or the 2016-17 Jayhawks — a team hopefully on the verge of proving that a #1 ranking is only the start of a journey to truly reach the mountaintop. The same can be said for Redhead and this tune.

As we’ve floated on the podcast for the last few weeks, we have been in conversations with our man, Redhead. He’s been working hard on the new track. We are stoked to say that the song is going to be PREMIERED on our podcast on Wednesday! We can’t wait to share. What’s more? REDHEAD HIMSELF will be on the podcast!!

We don’t want to leave you hanging, so Redhead has given us a small snippet of the song to preview what’s to come. Until Wednesday, fellow Jayhawks. Click below:
